Apple Juice
Sweet or tart, either way its super easy to make apple juice in your Thermomix.
If you like it sweet, choose red apples; Fuji, Gala and Red Delicious are great examples and the addition of a little sugar adds to the taste! If you like it tart, leave the sugar out and choose green apples, Granny Smith!! Whatever apples you decide to use, buy them in season rather that buy the ones that have been in cold storage for ages!
I choose to buy organic apples. There are so many pesticides and wax used in growing apples, although they don’t look as good, they taste far better.
Although healthy, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”, remember that apple juice is high in natural sugars, so enjoy as a special treat.
Consider adding in a small cucumber, some spinach or other flavours that pair well with apples ….. cinnamon, citrus fruits and even a bit of vodka! Vegetables such as carrots and celery are also good!
Apples and this juice will oxidize over time so the addition of lemon is a good thing! I like to drink it within a couple of days but is will be ok in the fridge, sealed, for about 5 days! It can also be frozen.
