Peanut Butter

Peanut Butter

Made from just a few ingredients and in only a few minutes, peanut butter is a firm staple in my house, something I would not be without!

Make it just how you like! I like mine with texture, slightly sweet with a salty kick. Keeping an eye on your peanut butter and checking it regularly will enable you to get yours just how YOU like it!

Perfect for spreading, dipping and for cooking with. Yum!!

TIPS

  1. Raw Peanuts: If you’re using raw peanuts, consider roasting them before making your peanut butter. Roasting enhances the flavour and gives a nuttier taste. Spread the peanuts on a baking sheet and roast in a preheated oven at 175°C for about 10 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Allow them to cool completely before proceeding.
  2. Crunchy peanut butter: If you prefer a crunchy peanut butter, chop 80g – 100g peanuts at the start of the cook using the turbo function, (two half second turns should be enough). Set aside and stir through 4 secs/speed 4/reverse at the end of making your peanut butter.
  3. Add flavourings (optional): If you like, you can add some flavourings to your peanut butter. Common additions include a pinch of salt, coconut sugar, honey, maple syrup, some red miso or even a dash of cinnamon.
  4. Chocolate peanut butter: After the peanut butter has reached a smooth consistency, add 1 tbsp peanut oil, 45 grams unsweetened cocoa powder and 170 grams icing sugar . Them mix 30 secs/speed 9. Check consistency and add more oil if needed.
  5. Blend: Blend at speed 9 for short intervals (20 – 30 secs) until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency. This can take several minutes, so be patient. Taste and adjust as you go and scrape down the bowl regularly.
  6. Adjust consistency: If your peanut butter seems too thick, you can add a little peanut or vegetable oil to achieve the desired consistency. Add a teaspoon at a time and blend until you reach the desired thickness.
  7. Taste and adjust: Once the peanut butter is smooth, taste it again and adjust the flavourings if necessary. Add more salt, sweetener, or any other desired ingredient to suit your taste.
  8. Store properly: Transfer the peanut butter to a clean, airtight container and store it in the frige. Homemade peanut butter doesn’t contain preservatives like store-bought versions, so it’s best to consume it within a few weeks.

Remember, homemade peanut butter might have a slightly different texture and flavour compared to store-bought brands, but that’s part of its charm. Enjoy the process and experiment with different variations until you find your perfect homemade peanut butter recipe.
